To join the program, mentees and mentors apply through an online form. Pairing is based on career goals, leadership aspirations, and compatibility. At the end of the program, mentees will have a completed a leadership development journey and career action plan.

What is the goal of the BUILD Mentorship Program?

The BUILD Mentorship Program is a structured leadership development initiative designed to empower Black employees in state government by providing mentorship, career advancement resources, and leadership training. Modeled after Chase Hughes’ Authority Development Framework, the program systematically develops confidence, discipline, leadership, gratitude, and enjoyment-essential qualities for professional success and authority.

The BUILD Mentorship Program is designed for:

Mentees: Black professionals, early-career individuals, and aspiring leaders seeking guidance, career growth, and personal development.
Mentors: Experienced Black professionals, executives, and industry leaders who are passionate about empowering the next generation and sharing their expertise.
Alumni & Advocates: Individuals who have completed the program and want to continue supporting mentees and the BUILD network.

How long does the Mentorship Program last?

The program is structured over a 6-month curriculum, covering key phases such as:

Month 1: The Foundation (Introduction, Goal-Setting, Mentorship Expectations)
Month 2: The Awakening (Confidence, Personal Growth)
Month 3: The Training (Time Management, Discipline, Professional Skills)
